T H E E C O C H E F was founded in September 2010, following my graduation from culinary school at the Natural Gourmet Institute, founded in 1977, by Annemarie Colbin, Ph.D., the “maverick nutritional theorist.” The school’s core curriculum is based on the effect of food on health and well-being.
Attending the Natural Gourmet Institute for my chef’s certification, was a natural extension of my lifestyle. My siblings and I were raised with an awareness of health supportive foods, at a time when fast and processed foods were becoming popular, but not yet the mainstay they are today. Most meals were still prepared at home from fresh and natural ingredients, and having sweets, or eating at McDonald’s, were considered treats.
Fast forward thirty years, where eating processed foods and dining out are now the norm, and where we are also seeing the deleterious effects this change in lifestyle is having on our health, from childhood and adult obesity, to Type II Diabetes, allergies, and more. As Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution has shown, America is now the most obese nation on earth, and today’s younger generations will be the first to not outlive their parents, unless there is a radical intervention on what they are eating.
Because of my lifelong passion for health, this topic is of great interest and concern to me.
T H E E C O C H E F is devoted to providing quality information so that you can make informed choices about your health and well-being. I call it, empowerment through awareness. I provide consulting services to help individuals and institutions source the best products and ingredients for sustained well-being. T H E E C O C H E F also has an internet radio show on Blog Talk Radio, and in the Summer of 2016, I’ll be releasing my natural beauty video, demonstrating natural facial toning techniques and dietary tips to help keep your skin youthful.
I believe we are at a crossroads, and it is time to reclaim our health from within.
